Happy Easter!

Woah!

Quite the easter holidays I must say. 4 days spent climbing and my hands surely feel like it. On wednesday I was climbing with Matias at The Cave in Pasila. This is also where we rented our Black Diamond crash pad for the weekend! So if you're looking to go rent a pad, that's the place! The Cave website

Thursday we went to Taivaskalliot in käpylä. It was our first time there ever and it wasn't a disappointment. There are some really cool routes in Taivaskallio. Unfortunately on the länsimuuri there was still a but of snow and it was a bit too wet to climb.

After one rest day, we set out to Viikinmäki (previous post). And if that day wasn't enough already, on sunday we went to the Skybar (pihlajamäki) to ultimately destroy our fingertips :D The sun was shining and what could be more beautifull on such a day than a bit of bouldering. Here are some pictures from the skybar.

1st post.

Let's start this blog off with a bang.

Helsinki has a few good bouldering places: Taivaskallio, Pihlajanmäki and Meilahti to name a few. My quest is to find new rocks and new routes in Helsinki and all around Finland. So what better way to start this blog than by introducing a new place that I found last week.

In Viikinmäki there is a lonely big rock that we modestly call "Kinni-Rock". Below are some pictures of the rock.

On the left is the first route we set up in Viikinmäki: Tulikukka. The hard part is the beginning which makes it a 6a. However if you skip that part the route is quite easy.
Below is Ledger from the opposite side of the rock. It is a sharp ledge climb that ends up in a little swing. This route really raped our fingers.

Here is Anton looking good...

Overall the "Kinni-Rock" is pretty versatile. There are some mediocre routes and some really difficult ones that we had
to leave for another day.

We also went out looking for places to climb in Koskela Forest, but as in many places, the terrain is really flat. We did however find one spot just behind the Helsinki Water Factory. Our fingers were so sore and we were all out of power, that we had to leave the project, entitled "Mulkku", for another day aswell. Before the end of summer, we're going to climb it. So keep following...
